Launched in 2009 by Mehdi Slimani, SAWA is a premium footwear brand that is 100% sourced and made in Africa. Available in a variety of fabrics and styles including high tops and low tops leather in canvas and suede, SAWA is all about Africa sustaining itself as a brand and furthermore, as a continent. SAWA – which is the name of the native tribe living on the seaside of Douala, Cameroon and means “together” in Arabic – manufactures its shoes in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. The designs are inspired by retro-tennis and basketball shoes and are made for men, women and children.
